Report: Neverland Family Fun Run 5K

The weekend started out with a trip to the Health and Fitness Expo to pick up our packets and bibs.

Packet pick up was under the Disneyland Hotel

Commemorative Pin

Then off to the Expo in the Disneyland Hotel Exhibit Hall

RunDisney Medals

We also got the ChEAR Squad package, which included a T-Shirt, Mickey clapper, and a blanket, totally worth the price

The Neverland family Fun Run 5K started Friday night at the castle on Main Street.
Course Map

Waiting at the starting Line to the right of the Castle

Time for the National Anthem by the Royal Trumpeter

And we're off!

The course first went past the castle and around the Matterhorn into Small World Mall where a couple classic characters were waiting to cheer everyone on...and take picture of course.

We then ran through the parade gate to the right of It's a Small World into the backstage area, down Roundhouse Dr, past the garage housing the trains and monorails.

You can just make out through the window one of the Disneyland Railroad trains away for the night

Soundsational Parade floats were out throughout the first back stage pathway.

Look familiar? Space Mountain and California Screaming ride vehicles out in a maintenance area

Sorry for the blurry picture, but I had to share this picture.  You can just make out this African Bull Elephant on vacation from the Jungle Cruise for routine maintenance.

More Soundsational floats

A big crane parked in the back of the park

Then, we popped out at the gate next to Minnie's House in Toontown

Pirates were waiting in Toontown, looking for Tinkerbell, but ready to cheer everyone on

After leaving Toontown, the path took us backstage again, through the gate behind the Fantasyland bathrooms

Mile 1 down!

Now through Skull Rock and down a tunnel under the berm...

...which took us to the gate separating Fantasyland and Frontierland, where the Lost Boys were waiting

On to New Orleans Square with, naturally, more Pirates in front of Pirates of the Caribbean...

...and Captain Hook and Smee

After running through Critter County, we went backstage again, to find a whole bunch of old Small World boats

and a Cast Member grill

Walt Disney Imagineering!

Then out into the Esplanade

Where the Monorail was waiting to greet us

After some encouragement in the the Esplanade, we went back through the backstage gate to the right of the Disneyland Park turnstiles

Mile 2 down!

These can be seen from the Monorail, but cool up close, Cast Member Scheduling office...

...Cast Member Newsstand

The down through a tunnel under the bus/shuttle drop off area...

...and into California Adventure, right by Tower of Terror

and into EleTRONica

Up the Parade Corridor

And through Paradise Pier

Look, no line for Toy Story Midway Mania!

Mile 3 down! Almost there

Peter Pan and Wendy were waiting at Maliboomer Park

Sprint to the Finish!

And here are our Finisher Medallions

Hope you enjoyed our trip through the Neverland 5K. We did, and can't wait for the Disneyland Half Marathon in September
